Ottawa’s architectural, engineering and design community can receive an update on the implications of the recently introduced Ontario Construction Act at a special Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) Ottawa chapter program on Nov. 15.
Keith MacLaren and Bryce Dillon of Perley-Robertsojn, Hill & McDougall LLP will explore the new rules’ implications for the industry, which impacts and affects rights and obligations of virtually every business as well as design professionals on issues such as lien rights, trust account obligations, notifications, dispute resolution and adjudication, and prompt payment requirements. The process is complicated by the fact the law is being implemented in two stages – and there are transitional arrangements which mean some projects will be operating under the new rules, while others will need to follow the rules under the former Ontario Construction Lien Act.
The program at the Ottawa Construction Association (OCA), 9 Antares Dr. from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. includes a hot breakfast.
Early bird tickets are $20.00 plus HST. Late registration is $25.00 plus HST. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
