R. E. (Roly) Hein, 67, chairman and CEO of R.E. Hein Construction, died suddenly on Aug. 21.

He moved to Ottawa from Toronto in 1988 to supervise the construction of the National Gallery of Canada.  When the job was completed, he stayed in Ottawa and founded the business that has achieved prominence and a reputation for integrity within the Ottawa-area construction community.

Hein has served as chairman and director of the Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) and the Ottawa Construction Association (OCA).

“Roly made lifelong friends in the construction industry and will be greatly missed by his employees who he held in high regard,” his obituary said. Several owners of successful subtrade businesses have posted sympathy notes on the online obituary’s remembrance book.
