Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) says it is looking for a construction manager (CM) to oversee Parliament’s East Block rehabilitation – a project estimated to be worth more than $30 million.

The RFP invitation says: “Construction is defined as the work required to deliver a complete project. The CM will be contracted to undertake the management of the construction activities required to implement the first phase of the East Block Rehabilitation project. The exterior work includes but is not limited to site work, masonry, masonry cleaning, windows and doors, roof, cresting, and interior work required to facilitate exterior work.”

The government says the East Block is one of the surviving original triad of Parliament Hill buildings. It notes that major renovations and rehabilitation work were carried out in the late 1970s and 1990s.

The East Block project is expected to continue until late 2020. It will be relatively small compared to the major, decade long rehabilitation of the Centre Block, which should begin in 2018.

See the tender notice here. Closing date is March 14.
