Databid.com reports that there are eight educational-sector projects open for bidding and sub-trade participation (as of April 25, 2014), among 2,085 open projects in eastern Ontario.
The bidding/leads service includes both invited and open bid projects, several with prequalification requirements, but also includes data to allow sub-trade business owners to know which trades/services would be required. The service provides contact information for owners representatives and general contractors.
As the projects are open for bidding, dollar values are not available, but these were listed at press time (with pre-bid deadlines noted).As DataBid’s information is updated daily, readers are encouraged to subscribe to the service directly for current information.
University of Ottawa: Brooks laundry and daycare egress renovation
Bids are due on May 8 for this renovation project. The architect is Watson MacEwen Teramura Architects, with project management from MHPM Project Managers Inc.
The work involves “daycare egress and Brooks laundry modifications.”
Invited general contractors include Elite Construction Inc., Krista Construction Ltd., Nicolini Construction Ltd. and Pranger Debruyn Construction Ltd.
Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB): Holy Redeemer Catholic Elementary School addition
Bids are open until May 8 “for the construction of a one story additional and renovation.”
The project has been open to prequalified general contractors, of which Thomas Fuller Construction Co. Ltd. is reportedly seeking subtrades.
University of Ottawa: Marion Hall phase 1 exterior ramp and vestibule renovation
DataBid reports the renovation estimated cost in the $10 to $25 million range. Bids are due May 6. The Architect is HDR Architecture Associates Ltd.
“The Marion laboratory renovation consists of two phases, including two main entrances, fume hood exhaust structures and a new HVAC and gen-set installation,” the DataBid report says. “The other project is to complete the fit-up of the third floor of the Advanced Research Complex for 3,335 sq. m. of laboratories, offices and other support areas.” The documentation says “this tender is for Phase 1 – Exterior Ramp and Vestibule Renovations.” DataBid subscriber Nicolini Construction Ltd. is reported to be “interested in this project.”
Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB): Castlefrank Elementary School renovation
DataBid reports Pye & Richards Architects has designed the project, for which bids were due on May 1. The project involves 500 sq. m. of renovations “to addition and associated site works”.
Prequalified general contractors include DeMarco Construction Ltd., Enstone Construction Inc.,
Frecon Construction Ltd., Highpoint Commercial Management Services Inc., Massicotte Construction Ltd., Michanie Construction Inc., Nicolini Construction Ltd., Paul Daoust Construction and Associates Ltd., Thomas Fuller Construction Co. Ltd. and Waterdon Construction Ltd.
Pequalified subtrades include roofing, HVAC, electrical and data cabling.
Algonquin College: Building C WC550 reconfiguration
The college has invited bids (due April 29) from prequalified general contractors for the renovation work on the fifth level of the college’s Building C, including selective demolition work, alterations to existing finishes, and electrical.
Edward J. Cuhachi & Associates Architects and R.J. McKee Engineering Ltd. are listed as consultants.
OCDSB: South March Public School addition
Bids closed April 30 for this multiple-storey project designed by N45 Architecture Inc. (EMA Architects Inc.) and work is to start on June 30, 2014, with substantial and total performance completion by July 31, 2015.
Prequalified general contractors include: Bourgon Construction Ltd. (Robert J. Bourgon & Associates Ltd.), Frecon Construction Ltd., McDonald Brothers Construction Inc., MP Lundy Construction (Ontario) Ltd., Ruiter Construction Ltd., Taplen Commercial Construction Inc., Thomas Fuller Construction Co. Ltd. and Tofcon Construction Inc.
Algonquin College: Painting services prequalification
The college has announced that it is seeking prequalification candidates “for the provision of interior and exterior painting services on an as-needed basis at all three campuses.
