The University of Ottawa will invest more than $17.5 million in a new student residence.
The proposed building is a 4 story, with basement, 172 bedroom student residence on Henderson Ave behind the new ARC (Advanced Research Centre). Each floor will accommodate a common lounge and kitchen for student use.
The total footprint is roughly 1,200m2 with a gross area of roughly 5,000m2. The building also has 5 fully accessible barrier free rooms with facilities, a green roof over the common multipurpose space, and indoor bicycle storage. The residence is designed within the bounds of the City zoning regulations, and we have tried to break the visual façade by creating a ‘Z’ like building.
The university is expected to go out for tender in April 2014 to start construction on June 1, 2014.
