H&H Construction, based in Petawawa, has acquired the operations of Bonnechere Excavating Inc. (BEI), a move aimed at streamlining operations and ensuring a smooth transition for the two companies.

The 76-year-old H&H business has operated pits and quarries, an asphalt plant, a landscape depot, and related buildings across the Ottawa Valley. The acquisition will include all of the company’s assets, including the network of pits and quarries, the asphalt plant, the landscape depot, and related buildings.

The operations of H&H Construction will be maintained under the current management of Daniel Hoffman, who will continue in the role of president.

“Businesses are always changing, and this is just one more change in our history,” Hofffman said in a statement last Friday (April 12). “We have been through this process before and we’re really happy to be in this arrangement with BEI. All of us in the Hoffman family have enjoyed our time at the helm of this business and we are confident that the Ottawa Valley is in good hands with them moving forward.”

The transition to the new ownership team at H&H Construction is expected to be smooth and efficient, with all parties remaining committed to providing services to customers in the Ottawa Valley. Customers will continue to have access to the company’s established contact information, while contacts for H&H Construction will be redirected to the BEI personnel in charge.

Bonnechere Excavating’s President Mark Enright said in a statement: “Our companies have worked together on a number of significant projects in the Ottawa Valley over the years. We know they run their operation at a high standard, and that made these discussions easy for us. We’re proud to be expanding with their support and keeping this important business in the local area.”
