PCL Constructors Canada Inc. has won a $2,603,997.99 contract to oversee construction management of the Government Conference Centre (GCC) at 2 Rideau Dr.
The heritage renovation of the historical building – once Ottawa’s main train station – will adapt the building to house the Senate chamber as Parliament Hill renovations continue.
Public Works and Government Services Canada estimates the overall project value to be about $190 million, with the “hard construction cost” of about $91 million. Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. and KWC Architects Inc. as a joint venture earlier won the design competition.
PWGSC bid documents say the government anticipates construction mobilization in June, and substantial performance achieved by December 2017. The goal is to be ready to move the Senate chamber into the restored building by September 2018.
