OakWood Designers & Builders has started work in an alliance with PCL Construction on a $6.9 million headquarters and manufacturing facility for ATG Industries in Rockland.

The project is the first significant initiatives in what is expected to be an ongoing agreement for larger-scale industrial, commercial and institutional projects between PCL and OakWood, generally recognized as a residential/renovation contract.

ATG specializes in multi-access computer numerical control (CNC) milling and CNC turning of raw materials and surface finishings such as chemical films, anodization, liquid and powder coating for the high tech and aerospace sectors.

Clarence-Rockland Township has issued a $6 million building permit for the project at 731 rue Industrielle that is expected to take about a year to complete, although OakWood president John Liptak says the overall project value is $6.9 million.

“We wanted to bring key innovations and technology to the forefront with this new facility,” Liptak said. “ATG will be a leader with this new industry leading manufacturing headquarters building.”
Once completed, the 26,280 sq. ft. two-level structure will house more than 50 employees.  IDEA Inc. based in Sault Ste. Marie designed the structure, with financial support from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
