A request for qualifications has been issued by Infrastructure Ontario and Hopital Montfort for contractors interested to construct and finance the Orleans Health Hub at the corner of Mer-Bleue Rd. and Brian Coburn Blvd.
Upon its completion, residents of the greater Orleans area will have access to integrated programs focusing on their health needs. Such programs are also to be offered in the country’s two official languages.
The hub will bring together the following organizations to meet the needs of its patients: Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, Champlain LHIN Home and Community Care, Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Ottawa Public Health, Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa, Bruyere Continuing Care, and Hopital Montfort.
Aside from providing basic health services, the facility will include other services such as an ambulatory program, diagnostic imaging, geriatric support and wellness, mental health and wellness, and active rehabilitation.
“Ensuring families across Ontario have access to high-quality care is a priority for this government. The new Health Hub in Orleans will help everyone in the community, from newborns to seniors, get the care they need, closer to home,” said Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
Orleans Health Hub’s construction timeline is still tentative but sketches of the new centre have already been drafted by HDR Architecture Associates, which Hopital Montfort selected in 2017 to serve as project designer.
Following the issuance of RFQ, IO and Hopital Monfort are evaluating submissions to prequalify contractors with the construction experience and financial capacity to deliver the project. Selected contractors will be invited to respond to a request for proposals by summer of 2018.
Procurement and delivery of the facility is being handled by Hopital Montfort, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the IO. It will be publicly owned, controlled, and accountable.
