Plenty of hot air (literally) poured out of Parliament Hill on Sept. 5.

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) issued a media advisory that day saying that “steam will be released at low pressure from Parliament Hill’s West Block construction site on September 5, 2017, between 5 pm and 9 pm.

“This will cause a continuous noise, with a plume of steam, to emanate from near the southwest corner of the Centre Block for approximately 4 hours. The effect will be similar to a previous steam blow-off on the Hill, which the government department recorded as a YouTube video (above).

The release of steam is being carried out to clean the underground pipes, PWGSC said.
