Ottawa City Council has approved zoning changes aimed at helping bring about a community vision for Armstrong Street in Hintonburg.
The changes follow the completion of an area-specific study that was undertaken in partnership with the community to envision a future for the Armstrong Street corridor. Zoning changes will allow for development of local-serving small businesses along portions of Armstrong St., which runs parallel to Wellington St. W, and in the block to the south, between Armstrong St. and Wellington St. W.
In Kanata, Council approved an Official Plan Amendment and zoning that will allow for construction of a two-storey mixed-use building on the site of the Kanata Centrum Shopping Centre. Facing 255 Kanata Ave., the development emphasizes pedestrian access and quality urban design, the city says.
