City of Ottawa building permit reports from July indicate a significant increase in permit volume, spread over a diversity of residential and non-residential projects.
The city recorded $401.15 million in permits compared to $265.7 in permits for the same month last year.
Totals from January to July also show an overall growth, from $1.18 billion in the first seven months of 2015 to $1.57 for January/July this year.

The 10 largest projects in July are:
1425 Vanier Pkwy: $49,979,765
This Group Lepine project, with a primary address of 127 Presland Rd., is being developed as a residential complex called Les Terrasses Francesca, according to postings on skyscraperpage.ca.
“Development of the site is proposed to be a residential apartment building with building heights stepping from one-storey to a maximum of 15-storeys along Vanier Parkway,” the post said. “There are proposed to be a total of 298 residential units comprising one and two bedroom units. A mix of exterior balconies and terraces are proposed. No commercial uses are proposed on the ground floor of the building.”
The permit lists the contractor as 145 Presland Rd. Inc.
3500 Carling Ave.: $30,800,000
EllisDon is continuing work on the fit up for Cienna of the former Nortel Campus. The permit says the work is for “tenant fit up in a three-storey office building” (Buildings 6 and 7).
3 Catherine St.: $25,113,10020
Doran Construction has started work on the SoBa condominium project, described in the permit documentation as a “20-storey mixed use building (residential condo plus ground floor commercial tenant) including four levels of parking.”
6130 Hazeldean Rd: $25,113,100
W. Knudsen Construction Ltd. has been issued a “foundation only” permit to construct a five-storey retirement residence (Hazeldean Gardens -Phase I).
100 Nortel Dr.: $12,364,683
This permit is for a four-storey office and industrial building. It is likely associated with a head office for The Tomlinson group.
3100 Swansea Cr.: $9,851,800
The permit for Cornerstone Builders Ltd. is to construct a one-storey warehouse for Wills Transfers Ltd.
3740 Spratt Rd.: $7,781,208
This is a permit to construct a three-storey addition to the existing St. Francis Xavier Catholique High School.
1385 Halton Terr: $5,278,478
Another school project, for a three-storey addition to the existing Ecole Elementaire Publicque de Kanata.
2276 Tenth Line Rd.: $5,039,342
A permit for a new Sobeys store, connected to another building in the development.
