Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) has raised more than $6,300 after being featured as the charity partner at the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA) HOWL Summer Golf Tournament.

The event, which celebrates and recognizes businesswomen in Ottawa’s construction and design industry, provided a platform for the organization to connect with industry members and raise funds.

In a social media post, the organization announced the fundraising total and expressed its gratitude for the opportunity to speak with numerous local companies about its mission.

“What an amazing day! We are so proud to have raised an incredible $6300+,” the organization stated. “It was wonderful to celebrate and recognize the outstanding businesswomen in Ottawa!”

BBBSO said it was grateful for the chance to chat about its “life-changing work” with dozens of generous companies from the construction, design, and supply sectors. Firms mentioned included Amsted Design-Build, Laurysen Kitchens Ltd., GEMTEC Consulting Engineers & Scientists, Minto Group, and Mackie Homes, among many others.

The successful fundraising effort was applauded by the event’s host.

“Congratulations! We are so happy for your success!” said Soula Burrell, GOHBA’s Director of Business Development and Membership, in a comment on the LinkedIn post.

The funds will support BBBSO’s mentoring programs for youth in the Ottawa area.
