LaborTek Continued from page C1
––––––––––––––––––––––– LaborTek has worked with the construction industry,
manufacturing, various agencies in municipal, provincial and
federal government, private sector clients and large corpo-
rations and has just introduced aviation programming. Tardif
says the company has trained more than 250,000 people
across the region through more than 2,000 clients.
“We have worked with some incredible companies and
the fact that we are still doing what we do after 10 years is
because of their trust and loyal support,” he says.
Tardif is also grateful for the knowledge and expertise
support of IHSA (Infrastructure Health and Safety), TSSA
(Technical Standards and Safety Authority) and MoL (Min-
istry of Labour).
He says says LaborTek seeks to be responsive to clients’
needs. The company has added online courses including
WHMIS and is looking to expand elsewhere in the province
to meet demand. The company also recently changed its first
aid and CPR training program to the paramedic training pro-
gram. The company's commonly conducted courses include ac-
cident investigation, asbestos, basics of fall protection, con-
fined spaces safe entry, trench and scaffold safety.
LaborTek is TSSA and IHSA certified and offers adapt-
able programming for businesses with two to 500 employees.
The company consults companies about safety regula-
tions, WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) re-
quirements and criminal code updates. LaborTek also offers
health and safety and policy and procedure creation and re-
views, workplace safety inspections and WSIB Work Well
Audits. Meanwhile, LaborTek’s staffing side has become one of
the Ottawa region's leading recruitment consulting firms. It
also works with associates in Vancouver, Edmonton, Cal-
gary, Montreal, Quebec City, Timmins and Sudbury.
The company offers standard, in-house and customized
training courses in a diverse range of soft skills including
time management, stress management, team building, lead-
ership and customer service.

Tardif says the company has a loyal client base. “We
have upwards of 200 personnel in the workforce working
with a variety of companies. Some of those we have sup-
ported with their temporary and permanent needs since the
beginning.” The company supports the community. Tardif has par-
ticipated in the CHEO telethon for 20 years now. The com-
pany provided manpower to help construct Roger’s House,
and has sponsored the United Way kick-off gala for three
years. “This year we’ll be sponsoring a gala marking the
100 th anniversary of World War I in April,” says Tardif.
Tardif says: “The success of our company is built on con-
tinued innovation, staying ahead of the requirements and
regulations and insuring the relevance of the training to meet
our client’s needs. That our clients have stood by us and that
we continue to work for them is the reason this all works.”
