Ottawa’s LRT (light rail transit) project is taking shape.
Construction updates report that excavating at the Lyon Station cavern under Queen St. and Lyon St. is continuing. The support umbrella drilling here and for the Parliament Station cavern umbrella has started. Shotcreting work at the Lyon Station has also begun.
Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) construction has ramped up with the long-term closure of Belfast Rd. south of Tremblay to Trainyards Dr. Site work including utilities and storm sewers, is under-way as the building foundation is excavated. Contractors are also installing trailers and fencing, decommissioning utilities and stripping asphalt.
Sound and noise walls are being installed from St. Laurent Blvd. to the Vanier Parkway.
The “widening, reconstruction and rehabilitation of various bridge structures along the highway continues to progress visibly,” the project update website notes. On the Hurdman Bridge the new north side deck has been poured and rebar and rails on the south side deck are being installed.
Construction continues at the St. Laurent and Vanier Parkway overpasses, the Belfast Rd. underpass, Lees Ave. underpass and Coventry pedestrian footbridge.
