More than 350 gala-goers celebrated at the ninth annual Habitat for Humanity National Capital Region (Habitat NCR) Steel Toes and Stiletto’s gala at the Canadian War Museum on Oct. 18.

The event, hosted by CTV Morning Live’s Lianne Lang, raised funds for Habitat NCR.

“The organization is currently completing four more homes in Orleans,” said Chad O’Halloran, Habitat NCR’s director of development and communications. “That means another four families, with a combined 15 children, will achieve their dream of home ownership with interest-free mortgages.”

The gala sold out three weeks before the event. Participants “were treated to dinner catered by the Westin, close to 100 silent auction items, and an impressive set of live auction items including round-trip tickets to any Porter destination, a Redblack’s package that included season tickets and a signed Burris jersey (presented by Henry Burris himself) and meal packages by the Westin and My Catering Company,” O’Halloran said.

After dinner, guests danced to the music of Jackson Miles and played blackjack for the remainder of the evening.

Supporters included: Presenting sponsor, BMO Financial Group; Stiletto sponsors, Laurin General Contractor, Genworth Financial Canada and TD Trust; and steel toes sponsor, the Canadian Building Trades Union.
