Sylvie Charest has been appointed as governor representing employers on the council of governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).

Charest has held leadership roles in a number of major multi-national companies, where she was responsible for benefits and compensation for tens of thousands of employees.

Currently, she is vice-president, global pension and benefits for Scotiabank.

Established in 1978, the CCOHS promotes the physical, psychosocial and mental health of working Canadians by providing information, training, education, management systems and solutions that support health, safety and wellness programs.

The CCOHS, a not-for-profit federal department corporation, is governed by a tripartite council—representing government, employers and labour—to ensure a balanced approach to workplace health and safety issues.
