32 teams raise more than $25,000 for Camp Smitty at Stantec’s annual hockey tournament

The eighteenth annual Stantec Ottawa Charity Hockey Tournament has raised slightly more than $25,000 to send 21 kids to Camp Smitty.

There were 32 teams, representing many of the region’s contractors and construction businesses, at the Bell Sensplex on Feb. 3 and 4.

Over the past decade, the tournament has raised a more than $160,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa to support the camp, named after former CTV sports broadcaster Brian Smith. Smith attended the camp under its former name, Camp Minwassin, as a thirteen-year-old and later as a counselor.

“The annual raffle event raised $2,464 toward our total goal,” said Stantec spokesperson Rachael Sa. “Huge thanks go out to Tomlinson, for donating the door prize of a TV, and thanks also to Soprema, who place the highest/winning bid for the live auction.”

The four teams that won (in four divisions) were: Metcalfe Realty (in Division A), Modern Niagara (in Division D), Fuller Construction (in Division B), and Cinanni Construction (in Division C).

Other participating teams included: Tamarack Developments Corp., CSD Oilers, MHPM Project Leaders, Colautti Group, PCL Constructors Canada Inc., Expercom, Minto, Cavanagh Crushers, Paracel Labs, Kott Group, Karson, Ottawa Scorpions, Bentall Kennedy, LRL Associates Lttd., McIntosh Perry, Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd., Richcraft Homes Ltd., Strata Drilling Group, Fotenn Flyers, Valecraft Homes Ltd., Parsons Inc. and Modern Niagara.
