$188 million in building permits issued in Ottawa for February

The city of Ottawa reports that there were 439 building permits issued in February, 2016, with a value of $188,536,094. This is a significant increase from February, 2015, when 326 permits were issued with a value of $101,417,279.

The five largest projects receiving permits in February were (in descending order):

$23,358,000 – 3500 Carling Ave.

The work by EllisDon involves “tenant fit-up on all floors of a three-storey office building (buildings 8 and 9), part of the refurbishing of the former Nortel campus for the Department of National Defence.

$11,939,094 – 236 Richmond Rd.

Bassi Construction Ltd. received a permit to “construct a nine-storey residential apartment building with retail units on the first floor and three levels of underground parking garage.” The work is for a new condo development by Main and Main Developments, with 70 units.

$10,336,000 – 160 Elgin St.

The contractor isn’t named for the work within Gowlings law offices, with alterations on the top three floors of the 27-storey office building.

$6,794,178 – 280 Crichton St.

This work is to “construct a four-storey, 32 apartment building with one level of underground parking.” The contractor is unknown, according to the building permit filing.

$4,517,393 – 385 Terry Fox

Dr. Broccolini Construction has received a permit to complete “base building (shell, mechanical and electrical) and tenant fit-up of the second, third and fourth floors of a fourstorey office building.
